ADULT DAY CENTERS

An adult day center is an option for senior living that allows elderly adults to be cared for in a daytime facility. Adult day centers provides care for older adults who do not require 24-hour professional care, but may need assistance with personal care, or activities of daily living.

Dementia Friendly Guide

This guide offers some useful tips for interacting with someone with dementia. A printed guide can be obtained at the ADRC for quick reference.

Dementia Cards

Dementia Card for person with dementia:

This card can be carried by the person experiencing dementia. When presented at a service location, it sets the premise that patience will be required. On the back is the card holder's adsress and emergency contact in the event that there is an emergency, or in the event the person with dementia gets lost or disoriented.

FIRST RESPONDER TOOL (FRT) | HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

It is always important to be prepared. We have put together a form that can be filled out beforehand and be available to be presented to first responders in an emergency situation. This tool will provide needed information that first reponders can use to get a comprehensive analysis of the person with dementia.

DEMENTIA, CAREGIVING, AND CONTROLLING FRUSTRATION

Caring for an individual with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia can be challenging and, at times, overwhelming. Frustration is a normal and valid emotional response to many of the difficulties of being a caregiver. While some irritation may be part of everyday life as a caregiver, feeling extreme frustration can have serious consequences for you or the person you care for. Frustration and stress may negatively impact your physical health or cause you to be physically or verbally aggressive towards your loved one. If your caregiving situation is causing you extreme frustration or anger, you may want to explore some new techniques for coping.
